What is a wedding contract?
Wedding contracts are a myriad of critical details that are part of your wedding plans and helps ensure that there is no misunderstanding with the services you hire for your big day.
When do I need a wedding contract?
Wedding contracts or letters of agreement are used for each of the professionals that you have hired for your wedding. This can include your caterer, the reception hall, ceremony site, musicians, florists, transportation services, photographer, and wedding planner.
What should I include in a wedding contract?
Most of the wedding services that you hire will have a contract format to follow. If they do not, be sure to include a list of the details on which you have agreed and have both parties sign. Typically, a wedding contract covers the following general areas:
- Day, date, and time of the event
- Detailed list of what was ordered (merchandise or services and the hours)
- Name of contact person or person in charge of providing your services along with a phone number and email
- Deposit and payment schedule information
Be sure to keep each of these letters or contracts in a file together with the rest of your wedding papers and refer back to them when you confirm your arrangements prior to the event. If any changes occur, make note of them in the documents.
Having all of these items organized and easily accessible will give you the confidence that your beautiful ceremony and reception will go as planned!
