No one wants a wedding that is anything less than perfect! However, on the offside chance that something could end up differently from your original plan, you may need to make some adjustments. These will be much easier if you have anticipated and prepare for the unexpected. We don’t want you to dwell on potential problems, but it is the wise bride who has prepared some alternatives “just in case.”
5 Tips for How to Deal With Wedding Planning Stress
- 1 – What are your plans if an attendant gets ill? Is there someone who could slip into the role of bridesmaid or groomsman? If the answer is no one can fit into the dress or tux at the last minute, then plan B is “who needs matching numbers?” You don’t really need the exact number of male and female attendants.
- 2 – If you are planning an outdoor wedding and reception, you do have a plan B in case of inclement weather, right? Make sure everyone knows about the alternative location, how to get there and when. This information must be shared in advance with the vendors impacted as well – the caterer, the florist, the photographer, musicians – and of course, the wedding party.
- 3 – Remind yourself that everything can be fixed in some way! Sometimes it is only you who knows that something is not going to happen as planned. If it doesn’t matter much, forget it and move on. If it’s major, look at your plans and go to plan B or C.
- 4 – Be organized and disciplined. Stick to your plan and stay focused.
- 5 – Stay positive. Remember why you are getting married in the first place! When wedding preparations seem to take on a life of their own and you find yourself wondering if it’s all worth it, remember why you’re doing it. You are celebrating the joining of your two lives. That’s a big, wonderful thing that’s worth a little chaos.
